OUR APPROACH

Welcome to CMAT, a leading-edge Vancouver-based centre of excellence in Medicine Assisted Therapy. We offer comprehensive, research-driven treatments combining psychotherapy and therapeutic medicines. We are dedicated to setting standards of care and generating knowledge in this progressive area of mental healthcare.

Our aim is to help clients deepen self-awareness, confront inner challenges, and access both internal and external resources. Through this process, we help our clients to develop the flexibility and resilience needed to live authentically, aligned with their values and purpose.

we combine compassionate, personalized psychotherapy with therapeutic prescription medicines:

  • Ketamine

  • MDMA (methylenedioxymethamphetamine)*

  • Psilocybin*

*These medicines require approval through the Health Canada Special Access Program.

Our services are available to qualifying residents of Canada through private payment and limited third party coverage. MAT is not insured under the BC Medical Services Plan (MSP).

Relational, Embodied, and Evidence-Based Care

we believe healing happens in relationships.

Trauma often originates in relational contexts, and meaningful connections can play a pivotal role in the healing process. This is why the quality of the therapeutic relationship is at the heart of our work. We also focus on embodiment—helping clients tune into their present-moment felt experience. Embodiment helps you to feel, heal, and build a coherent, confident inner connection with yourself. With the guidance of our therapists and the medicines we use, clients reconnect with this inner sense called “interoception”, discovering and following their unique pathway to healing. This approach helps clients access symbolic imagery and deeper layers of meaning, empowering self-understanding and integration of transformative experiences.

Our approach goes beyond traditional cognitive-behavioral methods, which primarily focus on reshaping thought patterns.

While these methods are valuable, they often miss the profound somatic and sensory experiences that arise during Medicine Assisted Therapy and are essential for addressing trauma and promoting lasting transformation.

We integrate the strengths of third-wave cognitive-behavioral approaches, such as the psychological flexibility model from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and other mindfulness-based modalities, with insights from somatic and trauma-focused therapies that are grounded in the latest research in trauma and neuroscience. This allows us to work with the mind and body, recognizing their interconnected roles in healing, incorporating nervous system regulation and the neurobiology of relational healing.
