About Us

The Centre for Medicine Assisted Therapy (CMAT) is a boutique, interdisciplinary clinic in Vancouver, BC dedicated to advancing excellence in Medicine Assisted Therapy. We specialize in ketamine assisted therapy (KAT) and Health Canada Special Access Program (SAP) treatments, including MDMA and psilocybin assisted therapy.

Our work is grounded in the Integrative Somatic Psychedelic Assisted Therapy (ISPAT) model—an approach that integrates somatic awareness, relational attunement, and parts-based (ego state) frameworks within a trauma-informed, ethically rigorous context. We draw on modalities such as Internal Family Systems (IFS) and other parts-based approaches (e.g., structural dissociation) as core clinical lenses, alongside somatic therapies.

This integrative approach allows us to support clients in navigating non-ordinary states with greater clarity and safety—working skillfully with protector dynamics, inner child parts, and conflicting internal experiences that often emerge or intensify in medicine-assisted therapy. Our model emphasizes non-pathologizing, inner-directed healing, while respecting the protective intelligence of the psyche and the importance of pacing and integration.

Many of our clients present with complex trauma and may have specific preferences regarding therapist identity; we are committed to building a team that can thoughtfully meet these needs.

We are committed to delivering care that bridges psychotherapy and pharmacotherapy, while maintaining the highest standards of clinical integrity, safety, and depth.

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced therapist to join our clinical team as an independent contractor. This role is ideal for a clinician who is deeply grounded in both somatic and parts-based practice, and who is committed to the responsible evolution of psychedelic assisted therapy within regulated healthcare.

You will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to provide preparation, medicine session support, and integration for clients undergoing KAT and SAP-based treatments.

Core Responsibilities

  • Provide psychotherapy within KAT and SAP protocols, including preparation, medicine sessions, and integration (1 on 1 therapy and small groups)

  • Practice within CMAT’s ISPAT model, integrating somatic tracking and parts-based inquiry

  • Support clients in navigating protector dynamics, dissociation, and emergent parts during and after medicine sessions

  • Collaborate closely with prescribing physicians, nurses, and co-therapists in dyadic and team-based care models

  • Maintain high standards of documentation, safety, and ethical practice in alignment with clinic SOPs and regulatory requirements

  • Contribute to a culture of clinical excellence, reflection, and ongoing learning including monthly peer consultation.

  • Optional: Participate in program and partnership development, public awareness and educational initiatives.

Required Qualifications

  • Licensed mental health professional in British Columbia (e.g., RCC, RSW, Psychologist)

  • Minimum 10 years of clinical experience in psychotherapy (non-medicine-assisted)

  • Completion of a reputable foundational training in psychedelic assisted therapy (e.g., CIIS, Fluence, Numinus, ATMA, Embody Lab, or equivalent)

  • Direct experience in Medicine Assisted Therapy (e.g., ketamine, MDMA, psilocybin, or related modalities)

  • Demonstrated competency in trauma-informed care, including comfort working with dissociation and complex trauma

Strongly Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification or advanced training in a somatic psychotherapy modality, such as:

    • Somatic Experiencing (SE)

    • Sensorimotor Psychotherapy

    • Relational Somatic Therapy

    • Or equivalent depth of somatic training with clear integration into clinical practice

  • Formal training in parts-based therapy, such as:

    • Internal Family Systems (IFS Level 1 or higher)

    • Janina Fisher’s Trauma-Informed Stabilization / Structural Dissociation model

    • Or equivalent approaches that use parts/ego state language fluidly in clinical work

  • Experience working in non-ordinary states of consciousness or depth-oriented therapeutic frameworks

  • Comfort working in dyadic therapy models and relational field-based approaches

Who You Are

  • A mature, grounded clinician with strong self-awareness and capacity for attunement

  • Skilled in non-directive, inner-directed facilitation, with sensitivity to suggestibility and power dynamics

  • Able to hold a non-pathologizing, parts-informed view of the psyche, including respect for protector strategies and pacing

  • Comfortable working at the intersection of somatic, relational, and transpersonal domains

  • Committed to ethical practice, ongoing supervision, and personal development

  • Aligned with a vision of medicine-assisted therapy as a relational, embodied, and internally collaborative process of healing

What We Offer

  • The opportunity to work within a leading-edge clinical model (ISPAT) integrating somatics and parts work

  • A collaborative, interdisciplinary team environment
